The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 571 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday and six new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added five more deaths to the state total.
Michigan now has 113,183 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 6,612 deaths. The state also has 11,786 “probable cases” and 320 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 22 new positive tests on Tuesday, with six each in Delta and Marquette Counties and four more in Menominee County. Schoolcraft, Dickinson and Houghton Counties all added two new cases.
Menominee County reported its first death on Tuesday. Public Health says the woman was hospitalized two weeks ago in Green Bay and passed away on Tuesday. The woman’s death was reported after the state report came out, so it is not listed in the charts below.
Through Tuesday, the U.P. had 1,306 cases since the first report in March, and 21 COVID deaths. The U.P. also had 217 probable cases and no probable deaths.
As for hospitalizations, the U.P.’s ten hospitals had a combined five COVID patients plus two in an intensive care unit. This is as of Monday. The MDHHS did not update this data on Tuesday.
