A home was destroyed by fire on Friday in Escanaba.
Escanaba Public Safety says the call came in at 9:35 am to come to 518 South 8th Street. Two units came to the scene, along with a rescue truck, and they put the fire under control with help from Escanaba Township and Ford River Township fire crews.
Officers say they were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings, despite working in frigid conditions with temperatures below zero and windchills even colder. Everyone got out of the home before fire crews arrived on the scene.
Delta County Search & Rescue brought a warming trailer for the firefighters to take a break and to thaw out equipment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
