The Central U.P. Regional Housing Partnership is calling on residents, business owners, leaders, and others from across the region to take part in a statewide survey that will help shape Michigan’s next housing plan. The survey, launched by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), is open now and available to everyone.

The survey is one of the first opportunities for residents across Michigan to help shape Michigan’s next Statewide Housing Plan (SHP 2.0). Locally, it continues the engagement that began at the Regional Housing Solutions Summit on May 6. MSHDA is also holding small group engagement sessions, focus groups, and interviews throughout the region to gather additional input.
The Regional Housing Partnership encourages everyone who lives, works, or does business in the Upper Peninsula to participate. Every perspective helps build a more complete picture of the region’s housing needs. Housing challenges look different in the Upper Peninsula than they do in many other parts of the state. This survey is an opportunity to ensure those differences are reflected in Michigan’s next Statewide Housing Plan.
“Michigan’s next Statewide Housing Plan will help shape housing policy, funding priorities, and investment decisions for years to come,” said Ryan Soucy, Senior Economic Development Planner at CUPPAD and lead of the Central U.P. Regional Housing Partnership. “If we want the Upper Peninsula’s housing needs and challenges to be understood and represented, we need people from across our region to participate. Whether you rent, own a home, are looking for housing, build or develop housing, own a business, or simply care about the future of your community, your perspective matters. Every response helps ensure the Upper Peninsula has a stronger voice in shaping Michigan’s housing future.”
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey and share it widely with neighbors, family, and friends across the region. There currently is no official deadline but the Regional Housing Partnership encourages responses as soon as possible to ensure U.P. voices are part of any early data reviews.
