Marinette County may no longer need to appoint an interim county administrator.
County Board Chairman John Guarisco told the Executive Committee that Administrator Kevin Solway has agreed to remain on the job beyond his originally planned departure.
Solway later clarified that he intends to remain through the county’s budget process—and possibly until a permanent replacement is hired.
With Solway staying, the committee agreed it does not need to hire a separate interim administrator.
The committee also voted to recommend contracting with Public Administration Associates—or P-A-A—to conduct the search for Solway’s permanent replacement.
Committee members said an outside firm can advertise the opening, review applicants and conduct background checks before presenting the strongest candidates to county officials.
The recommendation will now go before the full Marinette County Board for final approval at its July 28th meeting.
The committee also stressed that qualified current county employees will be allowed to apply and receive consideration during the search.
The P-A-A proposal is expected to cost approximately 24-thousand dollars, with additional services potentially increasing the final price.
