Menominee County Sheriff Kudwa reports that on Saturday, July 25, 2026, Deputies from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Menominee Township residence in reference to an individual shooting at another person during an argument about cutting grass.
After investigating the incident, a search warrant was executed and a Menominee Township resident was arrested and lodged at the Menominee County Jail.
Anthony Raymond Mech, 57, was arraigned in 95A District Court on Monday, July 27, 2026, on the following charges: Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Felony Firearms, Felon in Possession of Firearms, and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Mech remains lodged in the Menominee County Jail on a cash/surety bond.
The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by personnel from the Menominee City Police Department, the Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and Menominee County 911.
