Two teenagers were killed and two others were hurt in a late-night traffic crash on Saturday in Marinette County.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office says dispatch received an iPhone crash notification shortly before 11:00 Saturday night, followed by a report of a crash on County Highway G near Loomis Road in the Town of Lake, Wisconsin.
Investigators say 16-year-old Landen Englund of Menominee was traveling south when he missed a curve, went into the ditch, and hit a tree.
Englund and a front-seat passenger, 17-year-old Princeton Welty of Crivitz, were killed.
Two other passengers suffered serious injuries. Authorities say one was ejected from the vehicle. Both were transported for medical treatment.
Speed appears to have been a factor.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
