Executive Director Scott Czasak of the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority (DDA) made the following announcement on Friday:
“With an abundance of caution being necessary, the traditional Escanaba Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held virtually online this year. The ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook onTuesday, November 24, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. on the Escanaba DDA’s Facebook page at facebook.com/escanaba.dda.”
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is traditionally the apex of the Black Friday on Tuesday event in Downtown Escanaba, which will still be happening, with changes to make the event safer during the Covid19 pandemic.
“While we want to ensure people stay healthy and safe during this pandemic, our local businesses still need local support,” said Czasak. “This holiday shopping season, we are strongly encouraging everyone the Spend Local and help locally owned businesses who have been hit hard during 2020.”
The Escanaba Downtown Development Authority was created to see the downtown reinvented and revitalized with a mix of activity nodes focused on retail, residential, and entertainment uses; to see downtown become a vibrant business, entertainment and tourist destination with a diverse economy, including increased job opportunities which will continue to enhance the quality of life in the community.
