The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday reported 6,290 new positive test results and 94 new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 51 more deaths to the running total.
Michigan now has 320,506 comfirmed cases since the crisis began in March. The state also has recorded 8,688 deaths during that time.
The state also has 27,240 “probable cases” and 406“probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 115 new positive test results on Tuesday. Marquette County had 34 of those new cases, and the county also recorded two deaths. The U.P. also added 84 “probable” cases and three more “probable” deaths on Tuesday.
The U.P. now has 11,072 total cases since the crisis began in March.
There have been 191 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
The U.P. has had 1,894 probable cases and 32 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
MDHHS reports that 13,825 have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 152,267. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. This will be updated again on Saturday.
