The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday reported 4,273 new positive test results and 73 new deaths.
Michigan now has 324,779 comfirmed cases since the crisis began in March. The state also has recorded 8,761 deaths during that time.
The state also has 27,654 “probable cases” and 409 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 134 new positive test results on Wednesday. Dickinson County had 37 of those new cases, while Houghton County reported 27 new cases and Baraga County added 24. Marquette County had 20 new cases.
The U.P. also added eleven new deaths on Wednesday. Four each in Dickinson and Baraga Counties, and one new death in Marquette, Houghton, and Chippewa Counties.
The U.P. added 58 new “probable” cases on Wednesday and added two new “probable” deaths.
The U.P. now has 11,206 confirmed positive test results, and 202 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has also had a total of 1,952 probable cases and 34 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
MDHHS reports that 13,825 have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 152,267. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. This will be updated again on Saturday.
