The Marquette County Health Department on Thursday passed along information about the COVID-19 vaccines which many reports suggest will be approved next week. The department says that it will stay take months for most people to be able to get the vaccine, and we must continue with social distancing and waering masks.
The first doses will go to health care professionals and elderly folks living in long-term care facilities. But the MCHD says there won’t be enough in the first phase for all of them, so additional rationing will be needed as the doses are allocated across the country. The CDC guidelines will then be implemented by the states, and then locally.
It’s estimated that low-risk people won’t get the vaccine until the late spring or early summer of 2021.
