The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Saturday reported 4,486 new positive test results and 30 new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates nd matched them to previous positive test results. They added 176 more deaths to the total.
Michigan now has 430,780 confirmed cases and 10,662 deaths since the crisis began in March.
MDHHS reports its largest one-week total of recoveries as well. Nearly 40,000 people have been listed as “recovered”
in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 236,369. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
The state also has 34,373 “probable cases” and 533 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 103 new positive tests on Saturday, with 31 of them in Marquette County and 17 in Houghton County. New deaths were reported in Marquette and Menominee Counties.
The U.P. now has 13,365 confirmed positive test results, and 278 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has had a total of 2,749 probable cases and 54 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
