The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday reported 4,037 new positive test results and 83 new deaths.
Michigan now has 446,752 confirmed cases and 11,018 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The state also has 36,063 “probable cases” and 570 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 85 new cases on Wednesday, with 22 of them in Delta County and 19 in Marquette County. New deaths were added in Delta and Menominee Counties.
The U.P. now has 13,589 confirmed positive test results, and 292 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has had a total of 2,862 probable cases and 58 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
MDHHS on Saturday reported its largest one-week total of recoveries as well. Nearly 40,000 people have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 236,369. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
