The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Saturday reported 3,896 new positive test results and 32 new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them with previous positive test results. They added 155 more deaths to the total.
Michigan now has 458,852 confirmed cases and 11,461 deaths since the crisis began in March.
MDHHS on Saturday reported its largest one-week total of recoveries as well. More than 48,000 people have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 284,731. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
The state also has 37,204 “probable cases” and 613 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 57 new cases on Saturday, with 18 of them in Menominee County, 15 in Houghton County, and 13 in Marquette County. There were no new deaths reported in the U.P. on Saturday.
The U.P. now has 13,788 confirmed positive test results, and 304 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has had a total of 2,966 probable cases and 65 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
