There will be no “outhouse races” held next month in Trenary.
The event in the Alger County town is held outdoors, but organizers made the cancellation notice yesterday because of continued restrictions on gatherings from the Whitmer Administration. Right now, you can only have 25 people at an outdoor gathering. The outhouse races, which have been held for 27 years, typically bring in several thousand people.
Organizers say they waited as long as they could to make the decision. Wednesday’s announcement continues a months-long trend of events, both indoor and outdoor, being cancelled due to state restrictions.
The Continental Cup ski jumps in Iron Mountain were called off last Friday.
