Ishpeming Gus Macker Tournament Releases COVID-19 Plan

Organizers of the upcoming Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Ishpeming released its COVID plan on Tuesday. The tournament may require contact tracing and mask wearing, depending on what the Marquette County Health Department and State of Michigan rules are at the time.

And the number of spectators ma be limited, and basketballs will be sanitized between games.

The Gus Macker Tournament will be held in Ishpeming June 26-27. There will also be Macker tournaments in Sault Ste. Marie July 10-11, and in Iron Mountain July 17-18.

1. 1. Gus Macker Tournaments will follow state and local health department COVID guidelines for holding safe, outdoor events. 
   1. Players can electronically sign their waivers online, before arriving at the tournaments, when they register at macker.com. 
   1. Spectators per player may be limited in accordance with Covid guidelines at the time. 
   1. Each court has one assigned game ball that will be sanitized in between all games. 
   1. Players, volunteers, refs, vendors, and spectators will be required to wear a mask in accordance will current COVID guidelines. 
2. 1. Porta potties will be on site with multiple cleanings throughout the weekend. 
3. 1. Gus Macker will provide hand sanitizing stations and PPE supplies near each court. 
4. 1. Volunteers and refs will be required to sign a waiver. 
   1. Courts are able to be spaced further apart to create more space for players/spectators. 
   1. Working closely with the Marquette County Health Department as the tournament gets closer to make any necessary changes/corrections. 
5. 1. Gus Macker will provide full refunds to all teams registered for a tournament that is cancelled due to COVID issues. 
6. 1. All waivers kept for contract tracing purposes. 
7. 1. Waivers are kept and will be used for contact tracing, if needed. 
8. 1. The onsite Player Registration process will be streamlined, allowing for a social distanced experience. The check-in system will be divided into separate Youth and Adult areas.  
9. 1.  Any player under quarantine will not be allowed to play 
   1. Player and Spectator space around the basketball court will be marked for best social distancing practices. 
   1. Tournament may limit the number of teams allowed to play based on current COVID regulations. 
10. 1. Any player or spectator with active covid symptoms will be excluded from the play and the venue. 
11. 1. Illness screening will be done each day of the tournament.
