The city of Escanaba will be cracking down on violations of its property maintenance codes over the next few weeks. City officials say they’ve received numerous complaints about everything from parking violations to yard maintenance. Uninsured or unregistered vehicles on your property can be towed at your expense, they say.
If you live in the city, by the way, you can get a free ten-dollar voucher to be used at the landfill. They can be picked up at the utility window in city hall.
The city of Escanaba discharged some partially-treated wastewater into Little Bay de Noc on Sunday. The discharge was revealed Monday, blamed on construction at the city’s wastewater plant. Installation of a clarifier temporarily reduced the plant’s capacity, they say. The city has made similar discharges in the past when heavy rains overwhelm the plant’s capacity.
