An apartment building on Escanaba’s south side was damaged by fire early Saturday morning.
Escanaba Public Safety says the call came in at 3:15 in the morning to come to 601 South Tenth Street. When officers got there, they saw smoke coming from the top of the residence. The Ford River Township Fire Department was called to help out, and crews were on the scene for a couple of hours battling the blaze.
When it was over, the upstairs suffered heavy fire, water, and smoke damage. There was also damage done downstairs. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
