The M&M Area Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) has selected the Niagara Police Department to receive a $9,000 grant to support the National Night Out program for northern Marinette and Menominee Counties.
According to Niagara Police Chief Angie Moreau the National Night Out program has been embraced by the local communities for several years and the grant will strengthen and support what has been put in place by volunteers.
“This annual event provides an opportunity for our police department and other service agencies to work cooperatively on child protection, education and actions. We are thankful to YAC members for supporting this worthwhile program!” said Chief Moreau.
The grant, awarded from the Youth Field of Interest Endowment Fund held at the Community Foundation, will purchase child ID kits, “Dial 911 in Emergency” kits, a “Nat the Knight” costume, as well as educational books, banners and awareness bracelets.
The goal of the Niagara National Night Out Committee is to grow community support for the one-day event by capturing and maintaining the interests of young people with high quality educational activities.
