The 20th Annual Delta County Century Ride is set for September 19th starting and ending at the Melissa Besse Sports Park in Gladstone. This bike ride, organized by the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, encourages everyone to come out and pedal the pristine backroads of Delta County while enjoying delicious food, beverages, and some friendly competition.
Participants can choose from 100K, 78K, 40K, and 13K rides, so whether you’re looking to put your skills to the test or just need an excuse to enjoy a beautiful day, there is a route just for you. No matter what ride participants select, they will be able to enjoy food, beverages, and musical entertainment at a variety of rest stops during their ride.
The only thing better than the ride is the food! Participants can look forward to delicious fair at each rest stop from our chamber member resturants. Crossing the finish line, riders can also enjoy a celebratory root-beer float sponsored by Bink’s Coca Cola and Rapid River Dairy Flo.
People planning to ride along with relatives, coworkers, or friends can make their Century Ride experience even more fun by forming a team. When they arrive at the event, team members will sign the team roster; after they complete their chosen route, team members will record their final distances. The team that has the longest cumulative distance won’t just get bragging rights – they’ll also be presented with the famous Traveling Trophy.
You can register online today at deltami.org or at the Gladstone Sports Complex from 5 to 7 PM on Saturday night during the “Bay de Noc Bike & Binge” sponsored by Visit Escanaba. During this time riders have an opportunity to pick up their ride registration and enjoy a Croatian Chicken dinner served with corn on the cob and potato salad.
Pricing for the Century Ride is $40 adult registration with a limited number of shirts available on-site for $20 each. Kids 12 & under are $15 to register. Riders can also register for the “Bay de Noc Bike & Binge” for $5 and the “Gourmet Waffle Breakfast” provided by Bobaloon’s Café for $5.
