CLICK TO HEAR BERGMAN’S TRIBUTE OF BENISHEK
Congressman Jack Bergman, joined by his Michigan House colleagues and Senator Debbie Stabenow, gathered on the U.S. House floor Wednesday to honor the life and legacy of Congressman Dan Benishek, who served as Representative for the First District of Michigan for six years.
“Through his dedication to his patients, and constituents, Dr. Dan changed the lives of countless Michiganders,” Bergman said. “He was an indispensable part of our entire community.”
Bergman payed tribute to Benishek’s many years as a doctor in Dickinson and Iron Counties, as well as his work on behalf of veterans during his three terms in the U.S. House.
“He loved the outdoors like no one you would believe,” Bergman remembered. “He loved to tell the stories of how his cabin was completely off the grid. And he ate what he caught or hunted. He was a man, truly, of the Upper Peninsula. He did make a difference.”
Bergman then led the House in a moment of silence to honor his predecessor, who served from 2011-2017.
