The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced 14,561 new positive coronavirus test results and 65 new COVID-related deaths over the two-day period of Tuesday and Wednesday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 177 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were seven new deaths reported: two in Delta County, and one each in Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Keweenaw, Marquette and Menominee Counties. One death was removed from Menominee’s total.
There were 368 new cases reported over those two days, with 71 in Houghton County, 59 in Marquette County, 54 in Delta County, and 36 in Dickinson County.
There were 64 people in U-P hospitals with COVID as of Wednesday, with 18 in intensive care units. Four people were on ventilators.
