The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced 27,423 new positive coronavirus test results and 111 new COVID-related deaths for Tuesday and Wednesday combined.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them with previous positive COVID test results. They added 268 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were nine new COVID deaths reported: three in Menominee County, two each in Marquette and Ontonagon Counties, and one death each in Alger and Keweenaw Counties.
There were 828 new cases reported in the U.P. over the past three days, with 234 of them in Marquette County, 126 in Dickinson County, and 117 new cases in Delta County.
As of Wednesday , there were 74 people hospitalized with COVID in the Upper Peninsula…18 of them were in intensive care units, and five on ventilators.
