The Upper Elementary Gym in Escanaba hosted our Red Buck Pinewood Derby Finals this year.
About 100 boys and girls in Cub Scouts from the area met up and challenged racing each other in a final matchup. The top three Scouts from each rank in their packs will be moving on to finals.
The Cub Scouts in Red Buck are from all across Delta County and Manistique.
The fastest car for the entire day was driven by Bear Cub Arias Jackson of P-445 Bark River, covering the track in 1.91 seconds or 259.1 MPH
Just like the Nascar drivers, each Cub Scout was given the opportunity to race ten times, scoring points each time. The total points were then all totaled and the computer calculated the rankings, based on everybody’s total points.
This year our Cubs had new Race Directors; Kevin Walkey, and Steve Hay, who took over for the retiring Joe Wilson. Joe had the job for the last 12 years, racing for over a thousand Cub Scouts over the years!
