The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter in Marquette County, also known as UPAWS, has teamed up with the Bissell Pet Foundation to help local animals at the shelter find new loving homes through reduced adoption rates.
“We are very grateful to the Bissell Pet Foundation for doing this again for shelters,” states Ann Brownell, UPAWS Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator.
From May 1st through May 15th 2023, special adoption pricing will be in place for dogs and cats that are one year of age or older. Elidgible cats will be $25 to adopt through this program, while dogs will be $50. The Bissell Pet Foundation will cover the remaining adoption costs.
Community members looking to adopt can visit the available animals at the shelter’s website and then schedule an appointment to visit the animals in person at UPAWS. In person meet and greets are required for this event.
There are many other animals in need of new homes at the shelter in addition to the pets this promotion applies to, according to Brownell.
“We have a lot of puppies here too,” Brownell says. “They aren’t part of the Bissell special pricing, but they do need homes…and we have a lot of little critters too, like bunnies.”
You can view all the animals up for adoption at the shelter and through their Home 2 Home Pets program by visiting upaws.org.
