The Marinette County District Attorney’s office recently accepted a $3,945 grant from the M&M Area Community Foundation.
This award is from the Foundation’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Fund and will be used for drug testing supplies as part of the County’s Drug Diversion Program. Participants are in the program for two – three years and have support from many community partners including law enforcement, probation and parole, private treatment providers, local employers, and community organizations.
This voluntary program is the first of its kind in the community which address issues participants face as they work towards improving their status with the court system.
“Drug testing is essential to not only holding participants accountable but for assessing and adjusting their course of treatment based on their needs. Without accountability for a participant’s sobriety, the strength and effectiveness of the program is sacrificed,” stated Diversion Coordinator Stephanie Timblin.
