CLICK TO HEAR JACK HALL’S INTERVIEW WITH ERIC VANDAMME, MID PEN SCHOOLS
The third time was the charm for the Mid Peninsula Schools as voters on Tuesday approved a ten-year sinking fund millage to make building repairs and security upgrades at the 40-year-old school in northern Delta County.
The vote was 185 yes to 161 no, or 53-percent to 47-percent. It was the third time that the district has tried to get this proposal through, and this one, at one mill, was much smaller than previous proposals that were rejected.
Mid Peninsula School Superintendent Eric Van Damme thanked the community.
VanDamme says the member of the Board of Education will now go over which projects are done, in what order, with the one mill levy expected to bring in $85,000 in the first year.
VanDamme feels that a difference this time was making sure that all of the voters knew exactly what they were voting on.
