Construction on Madison Avenue in Marinette is temporarily on hold after PFAS chemicals were discovered in the groundwater.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is requiring special gaskets for the new water main being installed.
The gaskets are designed to prevent PFAS chemicals from entering the drinking water system.
Officials say the contractor is having difficulty obtaining the required materials. Construction will resume as soon as the special gaskets become available.
