A brush fire quickly spread by high winds Sunday morning in Delta County’s Wells Township, but Escanaba Public Safety firefighters say they and several township fire crews were able to minimalize the damage.
The call czme in at just after 11 in the morning in the 3800 block of 18th Road. Crews were able to save a large barn from being consumed by the flames. A nearby garage and shed were destroyed, but a second garage was also spared significant damage and the barn had only minor water and fire damage.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the blaze was pinpointed to a brush fire that was burning, and the winds carried the hot embers to those buildings.
