Several Marquette-area Search and Rescue crews were called to Lake Superior Thursday afternoon on rep[orts that a sailboat had capsized between Middle Island Point and Partridge Island.
Marquette Township Assistant Fire Chief Robert Cochran says the call came in just after 3:00 in the afternoon and when they got there, a civilian in a canoe was already helping the crew of the sailboat. Rescue personnel went out there with a surfboard and the Coast Guard was there for back-up, but in the end, the sailboat and its crew were helped back to shore safely.
