Michigan Cases Down To 100 Per Day; U.P. Adds Ten Cases, No Deaths

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday reported 311 new coronavirus positive tests and five new deaths.

These are three-day numbers, with no reports issued on weekends.

Michigan now has a total of 894,260 positive tests since the crisis began in March of 2020, and 19,712 deaths.

The state says that 865,577 people have recovered from the virus. That is defined as being alive at least 30 days after the diagnosis or onset of symptoms. This number is updated once a week, on Mondays.

Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were a total of ten new cases reported over the last three days, with four of those in Marquette County and two in Menominee County. There were no new COVID deaths in the U.P. the last three days.

The U.P. now has 20,083 confirmed positive test results, and 440 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, since the crisis began in March of 2020.

The U.P. has had a total of 5,676 probable cases and 98 probable deaths.

Some local health departments may report different numbers on different days. We use the MDHHS numbers in our report for consistency.

The state also has 105,211 “probable cases” and 1,252 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
