Community members are invited to gather at the Invent@NMU + Innovate Marquette SmartZone office on Saturday, July 10 at 12:00 p.m. to participate in an event known as Accelerate UP July Cash Mob. The primary purpose of cash mobs is to encourage the community to support local businesses by spending cash at a designated establishment. At the beginning of this event, a mystery business will be revealed and participants will make purchases at this business.
Alexander Kofsky, executive director of Accelerate UP, states, “We’ve Mobbed 18 small businesses already, spent thousands of dollars at those businesses and introduced countless community members to products/services/businesses they may have never encountered.”
This event is for anyone that loves to support local businesses. Kofsky states, “We help businesses grow, we make people happy, we get cool stuff for ourselves, and we have a great time! The Cash Mob was on hiatus during 2020 and into 2021, but we are really excited to reignite the Mob and shower a local establishment with support.”
Organized by Accelerate U.P. and supported by Innovate Marquette SmartZone and Invent@NMU, the purpose of Cash Mob events is to bring the Marquette community together by supporting small businesses in Marquette County.
