Marquette Township Fire Rescue crews were called to Sugarloaf Mountain Thursday night because of two hikers that were dehydrated and too weak to make it down off the mountain.
The Chocolay Township Fire Department also responded. Crews located the individuals. They were on the back side of the mountain near the top. One was assisted off the mountain. The other was carried off the mountain by firefighters utilizing a stokes basket. The individual that was carried off the mountain was treated by MTFD Ambulance personnel. UPHS provided Advanced Life Support treatment on board of the MTFD Ambulance. The patient was transported to UPHS Marquette for further treatment.
This happened at around 8:30 Thursday night. Crews were done by 11:18 p.m.
