The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday announced 6,080 new positive coronavirus test results and 26 new COVID-related deaths over the two-day period of Thursday and Friday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 56 more deaths to the statewide total.
Reports are not issued on weekends., so the next report will be on Monday afternoon.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were 237 new cases reported over the two-day period. The most were in delta County with 42 new cases, followed by 38 new positive tests in Marquette County. Dickinson County added 28 cases, Menominee County 23, and 19 in Schoolcraft County.
One new death was reported in Houghton County.
