The Escanaba Public Safety Department is investigating a fire that happened early Thursday morning in the 2500 block of South 22nd Street.
When crews got there at 2:40 in the morning, they saw the back end of a detached garage on fire. Fortunately, a partition wall stopped the fire from spreading very far and they were able to save most of the garage and its contents from fire or water damage. Officers are crediting an alert neighbor for noticing the fire before it could get worse. Nobody was hurt.
