The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday announced 7,505 new positive coronavirus test results and 49 new COVID-related deaths over the two-day period of Thursday and Friday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 69 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were five new deaths reported Friday, as well as 287new cases. The most cases were in Houghton County, with 87 new positive test results. Marquette County added 50 cases and Delta County reported 38 cases.
There were COVID deaths reported in Delta, Iron, Mackinac, Menominee, and Houghton Counties.
