The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday announced 7,856 new positive coronavirus test results and 27 new COVID-related deaths over the three-day period of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 29 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were new deaths reported in Alger and Chippewa Counties.
There were 185 new cases over the three days in the U.P., with 37 in Marquette County, 31 in Delta County, and 25 in Houghton County.
As of Monday, there were 47 people hospitalized in the Upper Peninsula with COVID, with 16 of them in intensive care and three people on ventilators.
