The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday announced 8,078 new positive coronavirus test results and 58 new COVID-related deaths over the two-day period of Thursday and Friday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 64 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were four new deaths reported Friday. One each in Gogebic, Iron, Keweenaw, and Mackinac Counties.
There were 310 new cases reported for those two days. The most were in Houghton County, with 84 new positive tests. Marquette County added 56 new cases and Delta County had 44 new cases. Every U.P. county had new cases.
