Executive Director Scott Czasak of the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority (DDA) made the following announcement today:\
“The Escanaba DDA is proud to announce the in person return of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. After having to go virtual last year, it is tremendously gratifying to bring this great tradition back to kick off the holiday season in Escanaba!”
To be held on Tuesday, November 23rd at 7:00 p.m., the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is the apex of the Black Friday on Tuesday event in Downtown Escanaba and will feature hot chocolate and cookies for the kids, a visit from Santa Claus, and holiday wreaths will be available for sale on site. The event will also be streamed live on the Escanaba DDA Facebook page for those who can’t be there in person.
“As we emerge from the pandemic, it is vital to show our support to the downtown businesses who have done everything imaginable to weather the storm,” said Czasak. “This holiday shopping season, we are strongly encouraging everyone the Spend Local and help locally owned businesses which helps our community thrive.”
The Escanaba Downtown Development Authority was created to see the downtown reinvented and revitalized with a mix of activity nodes focused on retail, residential, and entertainment uses; to see downtown become a vibrant business, entertainment and tourist destination with a diverse economy, including increased job opportunities which will continue to enhance the quality of life in the community.
