The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday announced 17,008 new positive coronavirus test results and 51 new COVID-related deaths over the three-day period of Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 32 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were six new deaths reported on Monday. Two of them in Delta County, and one each in Chippewa, Gogebic, Keweenaw and Marquette Counties. There were 314 new cases in the U.P., with 71 of them in Houghton County. Marquette County added 61 cases and Delta County 36.
Dickinson County had 20 new cases and Iron County added 24.
