Two people have been arrested after police from multiple jurisdictions worked to bust a sex-for-money operation in Delta County.
Prosecutor Brett Gardner says the arrests happened on Friday at a local motel when the men showed up to have sex with a 15-year-old girl, but undercover officers were there instead. 50-year-old Aaron Spalding of Bark River and 34-year-old Daniel Cappeart of Cornell were arrested after the investigation by the Delta, Genesee, and Menominee County Sheriffs Departments. The Escanaba Public Safety department was also involved.
Spalding is charged with accosting a minor of immoral purposes, using a computer to commit a crime, and felony firearms. He has posted bond and has been ordered not to leave Delta county, not use alcohol or controlled substances, wear a tether, and not go on any “hook up” web sites. A preliminary hearing is set for December 9th.
Cappeart is charged with accosting a minor of immoral purposes, and using a computer to commit a crime. He also posted bond. No court date is set for him yet.
