The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced 24,090 new positive coronavirus test results and 198 new COVID-related deaths over the past two days.
State officials also checked old death certificates and matched them to previous positive COVID test results. They added 160 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were seven new deaths reported on Wednesday: one each in Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Iron, Keweenaw, Ontonagon and Schoolcraft Counties. There were 458 new cases in the U.P. over the past two days, with 78 in Marquette County, 72 in Houghton County, 57 in Delta County, and 55 in Dickinson County. Schoolcraft County had 23 new cases.
There are 4,269 adults and 52 kids hospitalized with COVID around Michigan, with 914 in Intensive Care Units and 590 on breathing ventilators.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there are 84 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with 25 in ICU’s and eight on ventilators.
