The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday announced 16,590 new positive coronavirus test results and 80 new COVID-related deaths over the past three days.
State officials also checked old death certificates and matched them to previous positive COVID test results. They added 47 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were seven new deaths reported on Monday. Two of them were in Delta County, and one each in Chippewa, Gogebic, Iron, Marquette, and Menominee Counties. The U.P. added 238 new cases, with 72 in Marquette County and 45 in Delta County.
There are 4,346 adults and 40 kids hospitalized with COVID around Michigan, with 993 in Intensive Care Units and 618 on breathing ventilators.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there are 77 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with 25 in ICU’s and ten on ventilators.
