An inmate escaped from the Schoolcraft County Jail on Saturday.
The sheriff says the inmate ran away from the facility at about 8:30 in the morning and was caught less than an hour later after Manistique Public Safety, Michigan State Police, and Sheriff’s Deputies looked for him. They say he had tried to hide at several homes in Manistique before being caught.
The inmate’s name is not being released. He was originally in the jail on a felony charge. More charges are now being reviewed, and other “outside individuals” may also be charged in connection with the incident.
