The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced 11,722 new positive coronavirus test results and 100 new COVID-related deaths over the past two days.
State officials also checked old death certificates and matched them to previous positive COVID test results. They added 230 more deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were nine new deaths reported: two in Houghton County, and one each in Baraga, Chippewa, Dickinson, Gogebic, Keweenaw, Mackinac and Ontonagon Counties.
The U.P. added 273 new cases in the two-day period, with 59 of them in Marquette County, 35 in Houghton County, 32 in Delta County, and 30 in Dickinson County.
There are 4,361 adults and 43 kids hospitalized with COVID around Michigan, with 996 in Intensive Care Units and 640 on breathing ventilators.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there are 68 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with 23 in ICU’s and six on ventilators.
