There’s been a fatal traffic crash near Rapid River.
Michigan State Police say the accident happened at about 2:00 Friday afternoon on US-2 at County Road 513.
That’s just east of the Rapid River High School entrance. Troopers say that William Rose was going toward Rapid River when he hit black ice on the bridge, crossed the center line, and crashed into a pick-up driven by Jon Gendron.
Troopers say that a passenger in Chilicki’s vehicle, 68-year-old Stanley Chilicki of Gladstone, died in the accident. Rose was taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, while Gendron was treated at the scene.
The crashed closed US-2 in both directions while crews helped the injured. The cause remains under investigation.
