There’s been a deadly house fire in the Copper Country.
Michigan State Police say the home in Houghton County’s Portage Township caught fire at just after 9:00 Friday night. Details are still sketchy, but Michigan State Police say that one person is confirmed to have died in the fire, and a second person was still missing and was also presumed to have died.
Troopers have not released any more details about the fire. There were multiple agencies involved in fighting the blaze, and the Michigan State Police Eighth District Fire Investigator is looking into a cause for the fire.
The Houghton County Medical Examiner was called to the scene as well.
