The Northern Michigan University Department of Athletics has announced the Scholar-Athletes of the Month for November 2021. Student-athletes are nominated by a Northern Michigan University faculty member and chosen by the Athletic Council.
Starting in the 2017-18 school year, one male and one female athlete are awarded Scholar-Athlete of the Month.
Carter Mason – Men’s Golf
Carter Mason was selected as a recipient of the November 2021 Scholar-Athlete of the Month. He was a member of the Men’s Golf team and graduated in December majoring in accounting. He was nominated for the award by Dr. Stacy Boyer-Davis from the College of Business.
In the 2020-21 season, he took first in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invite. Mason has been a member of the team since he was a Freshman.
Natalie Stampfly – Women’s Soccer
Natalie Stampfly was also selected as a recipient of the November 2021 Scholar-Athlete of the Month. She is a member of the Women’s Soccer team and is majoring in Applied Exercise Science and Health Management. She was nominated by Dr. Lanae Joubert, from the School of Health & Human Performance and Dr. Roxin Zhang, from the Department of Math & Computer Science.
In the 2021 season, she made 18 appearances and tallied an assist.
The students will be recognized during halftime at the NMU Men’s Basketball game on Monday, January 31, 2022.
