The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced 86,009 new positive coronavirus test results and 155 new COVID-related deaths for the previous five days combined.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them with previous positive test results. They added 356 more COVID deaths to the state total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were 13 new deaths reported over the past five days: four in Houghton County, two each in Baraga and Marquette Counties, and one each in Chippewa, Delta, Dickinson, Luce, and Schoolcraft Counties.
There were 2,455 new cases in the U.P., for an average of 491 new cases per day.
Marquette County alone had 841 new positive tests. Delta County added 411 cases, Chippewa County 206 cases, and Dickinson County had 200 new cases.
