The medical director for the Marquette County Health Department, Bob Lorinser, updated the community on COVOD-19 Thursday, in particular, the omicron variant.
He said that the huge increase in cases has not led to a large number of hospitalizations in the county, but since hospitalizations typically lag behind cases by two-to-three weeks, and deaths lag by three-to-four weeks, we’re not out of the woods yet.
Loriser also suggested that we shift the focus away from “cases” and concentrate more on serious illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths. The doctor also shared his opinion that the public health message is “waning” .
