The Delta County Chamber of Commerce has announced that the annual Fire & Ice fundraising gala will now be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Terrace Bay Inn.
This event, considered by many to be Delta County’s premiere social gala, was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5.
“Due to the recent surge in COVID cases, we have heard from multiple Chamber members as we were making plans for Fire & Ice, who, because of the high level of transmission and the number of staff members testing positive, have focused their efforts on keeping their businesses staffed and their employees healthy,” Chamber Executive Director Vickie Micheau explained. “Although our members are still supportive through sponsorships, currently, it is difficult to plan to attend a large in-person event this winter. Therefore, we decided to postpone the event until spring.
“The challenges before all of us are complex, and we all continue to do our best to balance and support the safety and health of our businesses and community,” Micheau continued. “To support our members and to be sure the investment of our attendees and sponsors has the highest level of return possible, the Chamber Board of Directors and staff have decided to postpone Fire & Ice until April 23.”
The black tie event will still start at 5 p.m. with cocktails and social hours, followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and finally, a dance with live music from 9 p.m. until midnight.
The culinary staff at the Freshwater Tavern will be providing a delicious meal including a selection of savory entrées, side dishes, salads, and delectable desserts.
“We hope that all of our dedicated community members and businesses continue staying on as supporters of the event and accept our pledge to offer even more exposure of our members’ sponsorships through the new April 23 event date,” Chamber Associate Director Sheila Krueger said.

At the event, attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and instant win tickets for the chance to win many great prizes donated by Chamber member businesses. The evening will also feature a live auction, a 50/50 drawing, and pay-to-play prize chances throughout the night.

“The Chamber of Commerce staff and Board would like to thank the community for their continued support of their Chamber of Commerce,” Micheau added. “We would like everyone, from business professionals to community couples and singles, to remember to save the date of April 23 for this elegant spring gala, Fire & Ice, which is sure to be a memorable and fun event.”
Fire & Ice is the Chamber’s first fundraising effort of 2022, raising money for the operating expenses of the Delta County Chamber of Commerce. The event is sponsored in part by OSF Healthcare.
